Manuscripts

Manuscripts occupy a central place in the intellectual, spiritual, and artistic history of Islamic civilizations. As invaluable witnesses to the transmission of knowledge across the centuries, they reflect the richness of scholarly traditions, the diversity of calligraphic schools, and the importance of the written word in the Muslim world.

The Fondation ADLANIA’s manuscript collection brings together works from different regions and historical periods, including religious texts, scientific treatises, poetry collections, spiritual writings, historical records, and documents related to the arts and traditional knowledge. Produced on paper, parchment, and other historical materials, these manuscripts bear witness to the refinement of the book arts and the meticulous care devoted to calligraphy, illumination, and bookbinding.

Beyond their aesthetic and documentary value, these manuscripts tell a living story—that of the scribes, calligraphers, scholars, and spiritual masters who preserved and transmitted knowledge from one generation to the next.

This presentation offers a selected overview of the manuscripts and heritage collections preserved by the Fondation ADLANIA.
